Nuns do not usually have holidays, only occasionally a few days for a family crises. However Sister Magdalene, a Catholic nun in her fifties has come to a crossroad where life choices have to be made. She has to get away far enough, not to be influenced by anyone, to be able to think.
She manages to negotiate a breakaway and finds herself in a strange environment, a strange world that has changed and moved on since she, an eighteen year old Afrikaans Protestant girl, felt a calling to devote her life to her faith. Her crises is not her faith, but many other aspects of her life.
On an obscure island she meets a man building a beach bar, a young cheeky ex-surfer looking for a lifelong holiday. He pretends to be someone he is not, actually being the exact opposite. This is not the story that you expect, but lots of surprises, twists, humor, pathos and magical moments await the audience.
The play is intelligent, warmhearted and entertaining featuring the multi-awarded Lizz Meiring, celebrating 35 years in the industry, as Sister Magdalene and Wynand van Vollenstee as Manuel, currently seen in the popular TV Series “Ouboet en Wors as “Gielie”.
